Meet Julie Lasche Brown

Julie Lasche Brown is driven by a conviction to fight for what she believes in - and there's nothing she believes in more than Iowa. A lifelong Iowan, Julie grew up in Dubuque where she learned to value communities that looked out for each other no matter what their politics, backgrounds, or how much money they had in their pockets.

Eighteen years ago, Julie moved to West Des Moines and quickly became a boots-on-the-ground volunteer for local, state, and federal campaigns. Through this, she built deep relationships with people at their doorsteps, and she learned the stories and concerns of Iowa voters across central Iowa. She carries those with her today as important reminders of why this work matters.

  • Reproductive freedom

  • Quality public education

  • Protection of natural resources

Julie is a working single mom who raised two children in West Des Moines public schools. She fights hard every day for families like hers because she thinks that everyone should have choices - whether it's about their healthcare, their education, or their environment. Julie is running because she believes in the power of people working together for a better Iowa, and she is inspired by what we can achieve as a community.

As former chair of the West Des Moines Democrats, Julie knows the challenges of political leadership, and she is excited to take them on. With kindness and resilience, Julie is a passionate advocate ready to be your next Iowa State Senator in District 16.
